Cold Weather + Pipes

We would like to remind our members to keep their pipes in mind as the temperatures drop. It only takes a little bit of time to keep your pipes from freezing over. Wrapping exposed pipes and good insulation will reduce the chance of broken pipes. You can also keep water flowing though your pipes. Leaving your water running a small amount can increase your water use by around 40 gallons a day on average. Over 30 days, this is around 1,200 gallons or approximately $3.50 extra on your bill (assuming 1,200 gallons is above 4,000 gallons"). In much less time, your pipes could freeze and burst, costing you much more than $3.50. Once the temperature starts to drop into the freezing temperature range, remember your pipes, and have a good holiday season!
